I am exceeding my purchasing power, what can I do?

Updated today

How are orders evaluated?

Our system reviews each order in real time during checkout. Your ability to complete a purchase depends on several factors, such as the store you're buying from, the card you’re using, the total amount, and your Scalapay history.

If you're new to Scalapay, your purchasing power might start off lower. It can grow over time as you continue using the service and pay your instalments on time.

Please remember that the spending limit shown in the app is only an estimate.

It does not guarantee approval and is not a loan or a pre-approved credit line.

Also, your spending power is not based on the balance on your card.

How can I increase the chances of an order being approved?

You can try a few steps that might help:

  • Use a credit card, which is often more likely to be accepted.

  • If you already have instalments, try paying off one or more.

  • Lower the total amount of your order and try again.

⚠️ Please note that we still can’t guarantee your order will be approved.

If you continue to get the same message, it means that Scalapay can’t be used for that purchase. In this case, you’ll need to choose another payment method.

You’re always welcome to try again with Scalapay in the future.

Why is the first instalment higher than the other two?

In some cases, Scalapay may give you the option to complete your order by paying the difference between your purchasing power and your order: the first instalment will therefore be higher than the other two. The total amount will remain unchanged.

The amount of the order does not change; simply the instalments are recalculated and the second and third instalments are lower.
